COOKING ON A TREK: CHOCOLATE CREAM

Trekking recipe: elena's chocolate cream

Do you often wonder how you can eat anything other than freeze-dried food during your treks?

Well, wonder no more, because Elena, author of the French cookbook "Food Trek", has agreed to share one of her favourite recipe with us!

Few words from elena...

I chose to share the chocolate cream with you because for me it is one of the more magical dishes on a trek! It is extremely simple, despite seeming complicated at first glance.
There's no prep at home - so it's perfect for those who don't have much time before their trip - and very little to do in the bivouac, which is essential for me: you rarely have the energy or the opportunity to spend too much time cooking.
Firstly, because you're always super hungry, and secondly, because the weather is not always favourable: rain, wind, cold, darkness, etc.

Another important reason is that the ingredients are easy to find - try to buy bulk in organic grocery stores - and they are easy to substitute, too.
It's important for me that people see my book as a tool; one that give ideas and advice for becoming independent. The idea is to be able to create an infinite number of recipes according to your tastes. For example, if you don't like pecans, just grab almonds instead.
